How much does a website cost in Tanzania? What you pay for in 2026

What a business website costs in Tanzania in 2026, what the price should include, the costs that come after launch, and five questions to ask before you pay.

, 3 min read

Ask five people in Dar es Salaam what a website costs and you will hear five very different numbers. Most of the difference is in what the price includes. A quote only means something once you know who writes the words, how many pages you get, whose name the domain is in and what you pay after the first year.

This guide sets out what goes into a business website, the costs that continue after launch, and the questions to ask before you pay anyone. Our own prices are at the end.

What the price should cover

A business website has five parts, and a cheap quote usually leaves one of them out.

  • Design and build. The layout, the pages and the work that makes them load quickly on an ordinary Android phone, which is how most of your visitors will see it.
  • The words. Often the hardest part. Many quotes assume you will write every page yourself, and the site waits weeks while you do.
  • Domain and hosting. The address (yourbusiness.co.tz or .com) and the server the site lives on. Both renew every year.
  • Changes. How many rounds of changes you get before launch, and what fixes cost after it.
  • Ownership. Whether the domain, the files and the analytics are registered to you or to the person who built the site.

Small or big website

The biggest real difference in price is moving parts. A small website has your pages, photos, a contact form, a map and WhatsApp and call buttons. That is enough for most service businesses: a clinic, a law firm, a contractor, a school.

A big website adds things that do something: booking or reservation requests, a price calculator, search and filters for listings or products, an event calendar or a second language. Hotels, tour operators, property firms and product brands usually need at least one of these. You can see both kinds in our gallery of concept sites, each one designed for an invented business.

An online store with stock levels and payment at checkout is a separate, larger job.

The costs after launch

The build is paid once, but a website has running costs:

  • Domain renewal, every year. A .co.tz address is registered through a registrar accredited by tzNIC, the body that runs .tz domains.
  • Hosting, every year or every month.
  • Care: software updates, backups and security, plus the small edits every business needs, such as new prices, a new phone number or a new photo.

Ask for these in writing before you start. A low build price with an expensive renewal costs more over three years than a fair price with a cheap one.

Five questions to ask before you pay

  1. How many pages do I get, and who writes the words?
  2. Whose name will the domain be registered in?
  3. What do hosting and the domain cost from year two?
  4. How many rounds of changes are included before launch?
  5. When do I pay: before the work starts, or when it is finished?

If the answers are vague, the final cost will be too.

What we charge

We build two kinds of website, at two fixed prices:

  • Small website: $300, for businesses that need to be found and contacted.
  • Big website: $350, for sites with moving parts such as booking requests, calculators or search.

Both come with as many pages as you need, the words written for you, up to three rounds of changes, and hosting and domain for the first year. Each website has a dedicated manager who looks after it. It goes live two weeks after your content arrives, and you pay when the work is done, after you approve the finished site. There is no deposit.

From year two, hosting and domain are $60 a year, or included in any monthly service. The domain and every account are in your name from day one. An online store is $600 for up to 25 products.

The pricing page has every price in one place, and the websites page shows what each kind includes. If you would like a recommendation for your business, book a free 30-minute call.
